Last week, I had the pleasure of photographing two families — back to back!! Talk about a crazy wonderful session! We dealt with wacky weather and time constraints but we somehow managed to get everything done in an hour! I always say two is better than one and in this case, I definitely got my fill! ;)
There were 3 beautiful girls in total — all different ages, ranging from 7 months to 3 years of age. The littlest one was a breeze. She was so happy and eager to take direction from me. The older ones … not so much! Now, I’m sure any photographer reading this will probably laugh because we all know photographing children between 18 months to 3 years of age is TOUGH work. It’s tough because children this age don’t want to pose for the camera. My kids are almost 2 years old and they want nothing to do with it unless there’s something in it for them. Despite this, I am so grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to work with kids this age — they’ve taught me about patience and perseverance and I truly believe I’m a better photographer today because of it. Needless to say, it’s a lot of pressure asking kids this age to do what you want them to do for the sake of a photo, but after a bit of bribery (cookies and smarties, don’t hate haha), these girls were putty in my hands! Sure, it was tough getting them to pose, but that’s not what I was after. I wanted candid moments. Those moments we often fail to cherish. And these girls nailed it.
Komal, it was so nice to see you again! It meant a lot that you asked me to document such a special moment in your lives (not to mention your 2 hour drive to me). I hope you & Matt, along with Sonia & Mohit enjoy your sneak peak! It was a pleasure to meet your beautiful families — I cannot wait to get the rest of your images to you over the next week, there are lots more to come! In the meantime, enjoy some of the highlights from our fun day out at the farm! Thanks again for being patient with me while I recovered over the weekend!
