Repeat after me:Â 70s engagement photos.
5 minutes after speaking to Steve on the phone, I knew their wedding would be special. I could tell instantly that both Erin and Steve were really cool people and that they’d plan something unique for their wedding. They are both creatives after all. Little did I know that they had THIS up their sleeves; 70s engagement photos in their home to ring in the New Year. They rented their outfits that were worn in the 70s (I can’t call them costumes because they’re as authentic as you can get) and the rest was left to our imaginations. Luckily, Erin and Steve have the coolest 70s inspired home and was completely decked out in awesome neon lights, huge mural walls, and groovy wallpaper. We took advantage of their entire house and ended with an epic cake smash, 70s style. A literal dream come true.
To make it authentic, I toned their photos in post with a couple 70s inspired presets, with a dash of grain for good measure. It’s super groovy if you ask me!
Here’s a little of what went down and a few of my favourite photos from our time together.
Yes, this is a real tub. And real cherries and whipped cream too.
I love how they incorporated one of the photos we took outside of a church into their wedding invitation. And don’t be fooled, it was really really REALLY cold the day of their session, but in the name of art, we braved the cold air and made magic happen.
I cannot wait to document their big day later this month. FUN FACT: Their wedding also falls on my birthday. Yup, it’s gonna be one heck of a day!
