Every year, we try to “coerce” our twins to dress in coordinating costumes; we’ve been doing this with them since they were babies. Most years, we’ve been successful at helping them find costumes that have the same theme and it’s a blast. Some of our favourite coordinating costumes to date include Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow from GI Joe, Mario & Luigi, and Spyro & Trigger Happy from Skylanders. But this year was a challenge. We gave them lots of ideas, but they just couldn’t agree. Then, Jameson saw the Groot costume and wanted to try it on. It is form fitting, soft and squishy; he was in heaven. Jackson loves the Star-Lord costume, so it was a done deal. Guardians of the Galaxy it is!!!
I take photos of them every year before Halloween in their costumes. It gives them time to get comfortable in their costumes and get into character. For this look, I didn’t want to take them to a park or green space, especially since we still have fall colours on the leaves and ground. I also knew I wanted to attempt a little photoshop and thankfully, we found the perfect spot to take a few photos.
I’m biased but my goodness, they are cute haha!!
This is the spot I took their feature photo. I got rid of the wall behind them and turned the pavement red to mimic the surface of Mars for their Guardians of the Galaxy shot. These photos were also colour balanced blue because the sun was really warm and casting orange on them (it needed to have more of a galactic feel). Gotta say, I’m really happy with how everything turned out, especially their feature photo! I got them to jump for the shot and I love that they took their masks off so I could see their faces.
Halloween is one of our favourite days of the year! We get to dress up and be someone else for the night. Let’s not forget all the candy! Wes and I dress up too (this year, we went as Cloud 9 employees, Amy and Jonah, from Superstore). It was pretty epic… for those who knew who we were haha!
I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween. Eat all the candy and get ready, the Christmas music starts tomorrow ;)
