I’m not sure where to begin with this one, but I’m going to try.
Veronica; she is truly one of a kind. Truly and deeply. She has so much love and is so incredibly giving to those around her. And that’s putting it mildly. I met Veronica in 2012 when I began shooting at the Oakville Academy and we hit it off immensely. She was warm and charismatic and her students respected her. She commanded it. She deserved it. When she announced her engagement, I secretly hoped that she’d contact me. I didn’t want to push. But I wanted this. I wanted to do something special for her. For me, it’s not just being a part of someone’s day. It’s being a part of their life. And that meant more to me than words could ever really describe. It goes without saying that our friendship grew over the last year. In fact, it was around this time last year that I took Veronica and Adrian’s engagement photos; a day I will never forget. You see, something special happens for me when I photograph a person. I get to see them honestly through my lens. It’s indescribable. And what I witnessed… the way they looked at each other. The gentle way Adrian caressed Veronica’s cheek and brushed hair off her face. The twinkle in Veronica’s eyes. It’s magic, guys. I saw what Veronica saw. And it goes without saying that it’s such an honour to witness, let alone capture.
So, here we are. The big day. And it was beautiful. It was a gorgeous summer affair. The sun was shining and everyone was excited for their love to become truly official. Spending time with Veronica and Adrian at Langdon Hall before their ceremony at Cambridge Mill was a treat. It wasn’t about taking beautiful photos of them. It was about memories. That’s all they wanted.
Those in between moments I live for.
And it’s pretty safe to say they nailed it. Their beautiful sunset ceremony overlooking the breathtaking European inspired views at Cambridge Mill was inspiring. No, it was perfect. The way Veronica’s beautiful bridesmaids walked into the room, each elegant step upon step in true dancer form. The way Adrian looked up. Then down. Then up again when Veronica walked in. He couldn’t keep his eyes off her. None of us could. I know your father was there. He was there Veronica and his love shone so bright for you both.
I got to share the day with so many familiar faces, including new and regular clients, friends from the past, and industry professionals. Alyssa was also with me, which was awesome. Thank you all for being so amazing and for supporting Veronica and Adrian as always. I enjoyed catching up with you all and giving you guys the biggest hugs. The day ended with a ridiculously fun crowd ready to dance the night away (oh, and they did). An amazing meal. A gorgeous room. Beautiful people. Heartfelt tributes (and dances in honour). And emotional speeches. Veronica & Adrian, I will cherish your words to me forever.
I leave you with a highlight of Veronica and Adrian’s lovely wedding day and a wish for many more memories together along this road of love and friendship.
Love you both, Robyn xo
