Before I begin with my look back to our foggy Mothers Day, I really need to pick up my blogging game. So far, I’ve only blogged my monthly project and that’s just not acceptable. I want this section to be filled with things for you. And I promise, I’ll do that. I am getting caught up and trying to put myself on a schedule. Gosh, why is it so darn hard sometimes. Life just gets in the way… that being said, this is life. This post is all about my life and how we spent Mothers Day. I hope you enjoy a glimpse of what we did as a family
First of all, the boys started off Mothers Day by making me a yummy waffle brunch before we head out for the afternoon. Since the weather was a little weird, we decided not to hit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington in case it was too wet and hit a local park along the Lakeshore to have a picnic lunch. Unfortunately, the bugs were out in full force and ready to eat our lunch so we went elsewhere. But not before we took in the amazing fog that was rolling in off the water. It was really cool to see in daylight, especially because it was so sunny out.
My boys were not happy with me for making them stand by the tree with those tiny little aphids circling them and clinging to our legs but it was worth it for this shot. Thank you my sweet boys! That alone was a nice touch on Mothers Day!
Next, we took a drive in search for a better place to have a picnic. We stopped at this little spot along Appleby and ate our lunch and enjoyed some downtime together. None of this was planned. We just did what we fancied; which was prancing around in the grass and rolling throughout the dandelions. And yes, Jackson got really dirty after rolling in the weeds haha. And yes, I said rolling although in these pictures, it looks more like Jackson was falling. He was rolling. And mighty good too.
We finished off Mothers Day with ice cream at Dairy Queen and a delicious dinner of all my favourite foods.
I’m not sure what I love the most about these photos from Mothers Day. Their sweet faces and missing teeth? The eerie fog or the bright dandelions that were in abundance. Maybe it was Jackson’s impromptu belly breathing haha! Either way, it was a carefree day. The way I like our warm spring and summer days to be as a family. We drove around listening to good music, eating yummy treats along the way. Life can be that simple. And it can be that beautiful. It was a day I won’t forget. Sometimes, when life gets hard, it’s very easy to throw your hands up. Today, is one of those days, if I’m being honest. I just want to throw my hands up and say “YOU WIN WORLD”. But, I have so many blessings. So many things to be proud of. And when I focus my attention on that, it makes all the bad … well, less bad. If I can leave you guys with a piece of advice, count your blessings. You probably have more than you think.
PS: Thought you’d enjoy this outtake, below. Can anyone relate? The minute I start shooting, Jackson had to pee. Like clockwork, haha! Anyway, please keep our circle going by checking out the lovely Sarah’s 10 on 10 this month here, which screams summer to me! I now want a cottage.
Until next time! Cheers, Robyn x
