Up next on the blog Kelly & Daryl’s beautiful rustic barn wedding at Country Heritage Park in Milton. I cannot begin to express how much I loved their wedding location! You’ll see what I mean soon enough, I’m digging right in! Enough talking ;)
We began the day shortly before the ceremony began. And wow… was it ever a day. We had torrential downpours all morning. I actually sat in my studio the morning of just staring and praying for the rain to stop. It was far from a light mist. It was dark and really awful to be honest. But by the time we arrived, the skies started to clear! You would never know, based on the photos, how rainy it actually was that day! Yes, I’m a wizard in my spare time ;)
Kelly, you looked stunning; really there are no words.
A few details before the ceremony began…
Onto their beautiful heartfelt ceremony set in a gorgeous barn on the top level where we stayed dry and toasty. Maybe a little too toasty but no one seemed to mind!
We ventured outside for a few family photos despite being wet. The rain stopped so we were taking full advantage of the beautiful grounds at Country Heritage Park. We were spoiled and got trucked around for bridal photos (our driver was so nice). He took us to all the best spots and saved our shoes! A true hero! Plus, the grounds are huge! When Alyssa and I first arrived, we drove around taking in the sights. We might have taken a couple selfies too haha! We even got a little lost because it was like driving into a self contained town from the 1960s. Or 70s. You get what I mean though … it  had so much history and character, which is why I loved that we got to shoot their bridal photos here!
Isn’t that Ford building amazing? It’s definitely a highlight on the property. I was extremely excited to shoot here so we spent a good chunk of time doing full bridal party portraits – but we made some time just for Kelly & Darryl. I adore the tender moments they shared here.
We were then taken to another location on the grounds that blew my mind! I was shocked when the driver said this spot gets overlooked. It’s gorgeous and rustic. And the light was beautiful! It also provided me with lots of area to shoot their big bridal party! Then we walked around to the back of the barn and found horses! Like I said, my mind was blown! I was so glad we took the driver’s advice. This spot was perfect for lots of cute moments!
Isn’t that “I do” sign just the best? And you can’t just stand in front of it – so kudos to Kelly and Darryl for playing the part! ;)
We had a really fun bridal party, which is always a huge bonus! They were up for anything despite it being so wet! But the sun came out and when it did, it was glorious! The light was definitely shining on these lovebirds that day, giving them love and strength.
Of course, I had to snap a few of everyone in the wagon before we said goodbye to our favourite driver. After taking a few more details and some shots of the entire bridal party, including some portraits of just Kelly & Darryl with their Matron of Honour (Keisha) and Best Man (Michael), we made our way to their absolutely stunning reception. Honestly, it was one of the nicest receptions I’ve ever seen. Hard to believe we were in a barn. Their details were drool worthy and the light was so pretty, but I’ll get to that in a bit (note to self: I will not apologize for being a detail junkie) haha!
Kelly & Darryl, you make such a beautiful couple. As if there was any doubt! ;)
OK so remember I was talking about their details, well check it out. Just stunning! And a photographer’s dream. I was in light and bokeh heaven. They had crystals everywhere so I took full advantage of doing a little prismatic shooting. Huge props to Rose Petal Decor for helping to make Kelly and Darryl’s reception area so beautiful.
After the introductions were made, Kelly & Darryl snuck in through the barn doors and surprised everyone. It was so cute! Darryl’s face is classic! And Kelly, you owned that fist pump! ;)
After their first dance and parent dances, we sat down to a wonderful meal and beautiful speeches throughout the evening. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Seriously. Myself included. I always cry. It’s nice to hear how loved the bride and groom are. It really brings my job to an extremely personal level. It’s why I love shooting weddings. There’s so much heart and soul in them. It’s where I belong.
Like I said, lots of speeches. Lots of tears and laughter, which is the recipe for a perfect reception. I also had a little fun during this part of the night shooting Kelly through the crystals that were all over the bridal table area. It created some really interesting effects that I love!
More tears. More joy. More amazing memories in beautiful light.
After their cake cutting (oh and their cake and cupcakes were soooo good), we got the party started! And let me tell you, this crowd knew how to shake their booty! But, we all know who stole the show. It wasn’t Kelly & Darryl either. It was Tunisia, who I had the pleasure of photographing again after this wedding this past fall. Tunisia just stole my heart and then some. She was ready to party and boy, did she have the cutest booty shake!
Kelly & Darryl, words really cannot describe how amazing your day was. We had been planning it for so long. Almost 2 years. So, it goes without saying how happy I was to see you both getting a chance to enjoy all of the hard work you put into your wedding day. I know there were very important people in your lives that couldn’t be with you guys. Kelly, I know it wasn’t easy for you especially not having either of your parents there. But I hope you can look at these photos and smile because you are so loved by many who embody your mother and father’s energy and spirit. It was so clear to me on your special day. I could see it. But more importantly, I could feel it. I know you did too.
So, to end this on a sweet note, I hope you enjoyed a look into your day from my eyes to yours. I know you guys were eagerly anticipating a nice sneak peek but the wait is now over!! Robyn xo
