Here we are. A cause for celebration. A year ago today, Sara Janie (she introduced herself to me as Sara, but everyone calls her Janie, so I now call her “Sara Janie”) and Peter were married in what was one of the nicest weddings I’ve ever attended. It was heartfelt. It was sweet. It was big and lavish. It was simply perfect. So, as I fondly look back on what was one of the happiest days in their lives, I am also sharing some of my favourite photos from their beautiful day.
Their story began at Peter’s house as the boys got ready for the “big” day.
Good job boys! When I asked them if they wouldn’t mind taking a few shots for the camera, they didn’t hesitate one bit ;)
And of course, the handsome groom Peter :)
After a few laughs, we made our way to Sara Janie’s house to continue with our behind the scenes look into their day. While Sara got ready, we took the liberty of taking a few detail shots. You know me, I’m a sucker for details and Sara had quite a few special ones to take note of.
Sara Janie’s bouquet was beautiful and honoured her late father and brother. It was really special, I’m glad she had them with her.
And here she is; the gorgeous bride having (and sharing) a moment with her family and friends. The look on her sisters’ face just says it all. Pure emotion and joy. Such wonderful real moments.

Since we were working alongside a video crew, the fabulous Video Gems, we also shot Sara leaving her home for the church. I just love these!
The church was lovely. I could see how nervous both Sara and Peter were. Ahh, it was so cute!
And the moment everyone was waiting for … Sara’s walk down the aisle with her dear brother.
I always manage to capture these cute moments throughout the day. You know what I mean… those unrehearsed moments, usually involving kids, that just speaks to my heart. This was one of them.
And a few more from their beautiful ceremony before we moved onto family and bridal portraits.
Married and surrounded by family.
The beautiful Joanne of JetBaby and her dashing boyfriend.
Followed by a special trip to visit her father and brother’s grave, which really was a bittersweet and special moment for us all. I certainly had a moment…
Now, onto the fun stuff – bridal photos! Now, I have to tell you that Sara Janie and Peter had a big bridal party. I think one of my biggest for 2012. But there is something to be said about a big entourage of people in photos and in support of your love. I absolutely loved how everyone looked. It was classy and elegant. It really took my breath away but I’ll let the photos speak for itself.
How cute were the junior bridesmaid and groomsman right!? Although the ceremony and reception were held in Oakville, we ended up at Paletta Mansion in Burlington for their photos. It was the perfect spot and we had such a blast taking photos! The photo of everyone hugging is one of my favourite photos ever. Like ever.
Shifting focus for a second, check out the boys looking dapper and the girls looking super gorgeous – they were all a sight for sore eyes.
And of course, my favourite part of the day: formal portraits of the bride and groom.
Cuteness overload!!! I can barely stand it! They were adorable!
How handsome is Peter? I mean, seriously!
And Sara Janie, you radiated on your wedding day. You really did. I was so honoured to capture your love. I’ve never seen you so happy!
Once we finished bridal portraits, we made our way to Le Dome for their amazing reception. It is such a beautiful venue. It literally twinkled in the dark.
After enjoying some of their antipasto, I didn’t think I’d have any room left for dinner. It was delicious (and I’m a sucker for antipasto).
A few more details (including a little selfie) and we were ready to rock their introductions and speeches over dinner.
Their first dance was amazing. It was so sweet and heartfelt. You could really feel the love in the room.
There were lots of laughs and lots of tears over dinner as speeches filled our hearts throughout the night. Once dinner was complete, we were treated to a few more special dances before the dance floor opened up for everyone to cut a rug.
Oh, and people did just that! They brought the house down!
And last but not least, the cake cutting and a delicious moment!
It was wonderful revisting Sara Janie and Peter’s amazing wedding day all over again today. The weather sure was a lot nicer last year than it was today! I hope you guys enjoyed your one year anniversary enjoying each other and hopefully eating the top layer of your wedding cake. I think it’s pretty safe to say that you’re probably still deep in the honeymoon stage, especially on a day like today.
Here’s wishing you lots of love and many more years together as a couple! Robyn xo
