I’ve made it. One full year. One extremely proud mama with two incredibly special kids and an amazing husband. 12 months documented featuring 12 wonderfully personal posts about our daily life. And if you’ve seen one or every-single-one of my posts, thank you; thank you from the bottom of my heart for following our lives. For supporting me both professionally and personally. I really enjoy watching my children grow through the eyes of my camera and I’ll never stop. There’s something so incredibly special about seeing how far your children have come by way of a photograph. It’s why I do what I do. Photographs speak to me. They are universal. They are vibrant but they can also be stark and moody; black and white with a lot of grey in between. It doesn’t matter what language you speak, a photograph means something to someone. And if it tells your story, it will carry your legacy forever. Pretty important stuff if you ask me. Unfortunately, it’s why I have over 2000 photos stored on my iPhone :( I have a hard time deleting photos, even the bad ones – but that’s another story completely ;)
What are my plans going forward in 2014? Good question!! What I can tell you is that it isn’t the end. I haven’t decided completely whether I’ll continue on with this specific project or not. I think the plan is to continue on but to change the subject matter. Despite this, I will never stop documenting my kids (I have a little something up my sleeve that will reveal itself soon enough so you’ll continue to see them grow). It’s just the beginning! Onto my 10 on 10 for December, we spent the day doing all things in the spirit of Christmas. This has been my busiest fall/winter season for me yet. I usually take December off and while I’m kicking myself a little for not sticking to the plan, I made sure to take the day off to focus on my family and shoot my 10 on 10, so here we go!
All I want for Christmas is…
What do I want …. hmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
Making his list, checking it twice
Sing like there’s no tomorrow
Their latest obsession
Our neighbourhood Christmas tree farm (even more beautiful right now with snow!!)
Fresh cut pine
Staying warm
A Christmas Wish
My life. My loves. My inspiration.
There are more photos that I plan to share soon. I ended up shooting the boys for our annual Christmas card at the farm, which is why I’m only sharing one of me and the boys right now, as I felt it was the best way to end this post. I know so many of you look forward to our cards at Christmas time. As a photographer, it’s almost expected that I’d have a kickass card (and I always do – and I will this year) but I will not be mailing them out. I will be putting the money I would have spent on cards and postage to a charity of the boys choice. We have so much to be thankful for, I really wanted the boys to know what it feels like to give back to others as we feel so very blessed for the lives we have and lead.
Please keep the circle going by clicking here for fellow photographer Tamsin Lambert’s 10 on 10 – she is a new and very welcomed addition to our little group! I wish you and yours a Happy Christmas and all the best for 2014. I hope to see you in 2014! Robyn xo
