These were the days … this is my sister, brother, and I with our dear Mum (never a dull moment …)
Tis another year where we take a day to celebrate our mothers. These beautiful women who gave us life. And if it weren’t for my mum believing in the beauty of life, I wouldn’t be here today (and neither would my kids), so I am forever grateful to my mother for believing in me before I was even born. I hope I’ve made you proud over the years Mum. When I became a mother, almost 3 years ago, life as I knew it changed. It was then that I discovered what life is really about. Mothers will do anything for their children and I know you will always be there for me no matter what. Everything you did for us was out of love. I hope, in return, we can continue to show you just how much you truly mean to us.
But it’s not just about my mother or your mother. It’s about the women who touch our lives every day that I pay tribute to. It’s about “Auntie”. The woman who loves me unconditionally for simply being me. It’s about my mother in law, who gave me an amazing husband to call my own. It’s about the women over the years who became my mentors. The people who gently shaped my goals and dreams into reality. The women who supported me throughout my life and the women who now support me through my children. I simply cannot thank you enough.
Being a mother is truly a beautiful thing (and to anyone reading this who is a mother, I thank you, quite simply, for caring enough to read my words). Don’t wait for Mother’s Day to tell your Mom (or someone you love as a Mom) how you feel. If there’s one thing I know having just lost my uncle unexpectedly is that life is just too short. And it’s not always fair. Don’t wait. Always make the ones you love know how you feel. Tell them how much you appreciate them. Spread the love. Pay it forward. Do it often and unexpectedly. Be kind to the ones who are on your side. The world will be a much kinder place if we all show one another a little love, respect, and compassion every now and then! :)Â I have been blessed to know so many amazing mothers through the eyes of my lens and the warmth of their embrace. Here’s a snapshot of some of my favourite mama moments over the past two years! Robyn xo
