Life’s A Beach | Burlington Maternity Photographer | Robyn S. Russell Photography

Sometimes, when I close my eyes, I instantly know what I’m going to do for someone who wants their portraits done. And in this case, I knew exactly what I wanted to do for Cynthia and Mitch! I actually had a couple ideas in mind that came to life right in front of my eyes.

I met this cute couple a few years ago when Mitch started taking guitar lessons with my hubby. They were neighbours, but we didn’t get a chance to hang out with them a lot because we had little babies in our lives, leaving us without much of a social life for a while! When Mitch told us they were expecting, we were over the moon with excitement! His happiness was infectious! And it was at that moment, that I started planning for this. I knew we had to do something incredibly special … but I also wanted it to reflect who they are as individuals. I thought a picnic in the park would work beautifully but I wanted to incorporate music too!

The light was super dreamy for their photos. Golden light. Sweet hour. Whatever you call it, it’s magical, which is exactly what I wanted for their session. In fact, we couldn’t have asked for a better night (despite most of the day being rubbish). We walked around for a while looking for the perfect location for their picnic. Once we found the perfect spot and the best light for their golden light feast!

Sigh. After a quick wardrobe change, we finished off the session at our beautiful beach in Burlington. The lighting couldn’t have been more perfect! Lighting is everything people! It was absolutely crucial that it was perfect for the mood of these photos. We really couldn’t have asked for a better evening!

Ahh! I can’t get over how stinkin’ cute you guys are! Cynthia and Mitch, you guys were amazing. You took my ideas and ran with it and I have to tell you, it was one of my favourite sessions to date. It meant so much for me to have the opportunity to document such an important stage in your lives. I hope you look back on this time (and your time with me) fondly! I know I sure do! And on that note, I am leaving you with one of my favourite images. Ever. Until next time, Robyn xo
